Shay Afra

I am a software engineer whose passion is understanding. This passion has always led me to learn about how things work and why. I began this journey by studying Psychology with a Biology emphasis in my undergrad. I wanted to learn what made people who they are. After many life experiences my path led me to software engineering which made me learn something new about myself. I also have a passion for building. Prior to being introduced to programming I had always found myself entranced in books and stories. Any medium that offered world building. I had always wanted to take an attempt at creating something, but I never knew how. Then I was introduced to programming, and suddenly a connection was made. I found that I was able to create, and this brought me both excitement and motivation. I feel that this experience was a driving factor in my software engineering journey.

I pride myself on my ability to make strong interpersonal relationships. From my experiences I have learned that an individual is strong, but a group is stronger, regardless of what task may be presented. I know that I can be a valuable team member that helps elevate any team I am placed into.
